On the
first weekend of November, the Second Annual Americana Conference was
held in Nashville, at The Hilton downtown.
Registration
was up nearly fifty per cent, from 368 to 540. It was spread out between
artists, songwriters, promoters, radio, labels, and press. Retail attendance
was a little light, unfortunately, because many were on corporate travel
constraints since the terrorist attacks.
This
is the first of a two part series, the second will be a report of the
Folk Alliance Convention in February. For musicians and fans alike, we
hope to contrast and compare the Folk scene per se with the Americana
and Alt-Country scene.
